Alphabet beads
allow you to add a personal touch to your jewelry designs
and craft projects. They are offered in many styles
including plastic, pewter and sterling silver. With
so many choices, you can find the right alphabet beads
or number beads to suit the style of your bead project.
Plastic
alphabet beads come in many shapes, the
most popular being cube and round. The cube alphabet
beads are popular because of their "chunky"
shape, which makes them more dimensional and allows
for bigger holes. The larger holes of cube alphabet
beads make them perfect for any type of cording ranging
from stretch cord, gimp, rubber cording, suede, hemp,
rattail and other types of stringing materials.
Round beads are adorable as well, the smaller sizes
of 6 or 7mm usually have smaller holes than cube beads.
This is because the round beads are flat disc spapes,
so there is not enough room for a large hole. Our 10mm
round alphabet beads, due to their bigger size, have
larger holes to accommodate a large variety of stringing
materials. When using round alphabet beads with smaller
holes, you can use flexible beading wire, stretch cord
and other thinner, yet durable materials. Round alphabet
beads, because of their flat shape are also great for
glueing on to surfaces such as paper - for scrapbookers,
or adding into mosaics and picture frames.

Instructions for Large Hole Alphabet Beads
Note: This project requires that two strands of stringing
material fits through each bead. After the beads are
strung, the cording will be knotted at the end to secure
the beads.
1) Select beads and line them up in sequence, then measure
how long the beads will be when strung (in inches),
multiply this number by 2 and add 4 inches, this will
be how long you need to cut your cording.
2) Cut cord to determined length,
fold the cord in half and string on key ring, position
key ring at the fold.
3) Knot the cord about ½” from
the key ring, this will secure the key ring onto the
cording.
4) String all beads onto to both
ends of the cord, when finished, double knot the end
of the cord to secure the beads. Trim excess cord. |
